Feral Freedom Drivers needed!
Save cats from being euthanized at local shelters! Transport feral cats who have been spayed /neutered from the San Jose Animal Care & Services shelter back to their original colony location. You will be responsible for the “return” part of the successful “Shelter, Neuter & Return” Community Cat Feral Freedom Program in San Jose. Training and mentoring are provided. Requirements: Reliable car, cell phone, team spirit. If you are interested, email Gina Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Cats are returned in feral carriers that are provided by the shelter and can be returned that evening or the next day. The time commitment for transport, on average, is 2 to 3 hours in the late-afternoon or evening, one day per week (or every other week, if preferred). You will be provided with exact address to return the cats back to, and you may be able to deduct your miles as a tax deduction on your tax return (please see your tax advisor for advice).
Town Cats needs many hands to do all the work we do. We are always seeking committed, enthusiastic and reliable volunteers. The work Town Cats does is only limited by our volunteer resources. We need help with shelter care, data input, fostering, transporting cats to and from vets, website maintenance, and adoptions. What ever your interests are, we can put them to work, even if it’s just a few hours a month.
If you are interested in volunteering, please read through the various volunteer opportunities available and follow the instructions below. If you have a particular skill or desire to do something that is not mentioned below, let us know what you’d like to do and we’ll try to find a way to make that happen. (for example: construction, graphic design, writing poetry, or photography).
Below are the standard volunteer opportunities for Town Cats. Please indicate in what area you would like to help. Remember, just because it is not listed here does not mean we don’t need it. Please let us know if you’d like to help with something that isn’t listed here.
Our minimum age requirement is 16 years old and we are limited in positions for people this young. We require that volunteers under 18 be accompanied by an adult at the initial training. If your child is interested in volunteering for Town Cats, we ask that you be patient as we try to find the best match for him/her.
Before you may volunteer you must:

Community Service Hours Program
We often receive requests from teens and adults who need to complete Community Service Hours either for a class for as required by court. We will happily provide these hours as they are available. If you must complete Community Service Hours, please email firstname.lastname@example.org . Tell us how many hours you need to complete and by what date they must be completed. We will do our best to work with you so you receive as many hours as possible. Please note, however, that we have a limited number of volunteer positions for Community Service Hours. The sooner you contact us, the more time we will have to work with you to complete your hours.
